Game #23 Pink Tigers 0 SPX 1

The Pink Tigers dropped to 14-8-1, and 5-4 in the WCC, with a 1-0 loss to St. Pius X.  The game was Senior Night as well as the “Pink it Up!” game.

“SPX scored a great goal.  The girl served a bullet in there and the back post finish was textbook.”

“SPX has a wonderful team.  They tied Smithville (#3 in state currently and has beaten Sion and St. Theresa’s this year) 2-2 the previous night.  We made them work hard to break us down.”

“We created quality chances throughout.  We attacked about every way we work on.”

“Hannah Dillingham had a great look in the first half and we had another ball the GK took off the line.  In the final moments Kate Whitney put a ball on frame on the set piece and Sara Rizzolo had a great look on the rebound.”

“I was extremely pleased with how we answered after SPX scored.  We avoided the malaise we are prone to.  Our upperclassmen, especially Nash and Nelson, stepped up the physical play which elevated everyone.”

“We’ve settled on a line-up for the rest of the year, and we are playing well.  We’ve got Brenna where she is most effective and can have the most touches and chance to impact play.  Nelson will play up top.  She has great vision and can make the most numbers of people dangerous in the attacking half, as well as an intelligent presence defensively.”

“This was the first night in some time that we stretched the field well horizontally.  Our middle of the park kids did a great job in finding the outside midfielders.”

“Our kids chose SPX as the Senior Night and Pink game opponent as they knew they would get to play a great team that would bring out the best in us.  They also respect the class that SPX, Coach Ashby, and their supporters bring to the field.”

“Pink it Up! was a great success.  When all the contributions are entered in we’ll finalize how much we raised for the Johnson County Cancer Foundation.  SPX became a part and raised $1,300 at their school for our cause, which is incredible.  Our school and community embraced the cause and we are extremely thankful.”
