The Pink Tigers advanced to 14-7 on the season with a road win over the Clinton Cardinals on Monday night. Taylor Geis scored on a Christy Crouse serve from the right wing in the 3rd minute to start the scoring. She finished the scoring in the 78th minute. Crouse and Patience Fleak had goals as well.
Erin Brockhaus faced minimal pressure to get the shutout in goal as the Pink Tigers were able to stifle Clinton’s speedy freshman, Laurel Dehn.
Both squads battled stifling heat and humidity for the first time as the referees chose to have water breaks in both halves.
The JV Tigers fell 4-1. Emily Whitney had an early goal to put the Tigers ahead. Clinton’s varsity swing players proved too much, however. Dehn made several quality saves in the JV goal for Clinton, including a stopping a penalty kick.
The Pink Tigers will travel to Kansas City to close out the regular season with a match against O’Hara on Thursday. The Celtics beat WHS 3-2 in double overtime earlier in the year. A Pink Tiger victory would mean a 7-3 conference record and another second place finish.
