“This was a real trap game for us.  We played a good opponent on a muddy pitch Monday and spent ourselves.  We were on the road against a team we had not lost to in awhile.  With the Celtics nice core of freshman and the club kids I know that are on the way, this game likely needs to be moved so it gets the attention it deserves.”

“The whole day just didn’t seem right.  We arrived late and missed agilities and had a very abbreviated warm-up.  We started with good effort but didn’t sustain it, losing focus.”

“In the first half we scored early and had a ton of chances that we just didn’t finish.  We looked good using more of our tools than we had the previous night.  Brenna was utilizing the outside midfielders quickly, though the narrow field there hampers it.  Kate Nelson and Taylor Geis each had gorgeous attacking runs from the midfield combining on wall passes with Brenna.  It looked like we were on our way to a 3-0, 4-0 night.”

“O’Hara’s GK is a wonderful athlete and makes nice reaction saves.  She doesn’t challenge the shooter much however, and stays on her line.  Our kids shot a bit early repeatedly, which plays to her strength.”

“O’Hara scored on a ball tossed in the box that bounced and their kid got to it first and hit a rope that Erin had no chance on.  It was good to get scored on at that point to see how we’d react.  For the most part, as much as you’d expect at this point in our development, we stayed composed offensively and played with purpose.”

“O’Hara was energized by the goal and really through effort created chances that they hadn’t had all game.  Erin made one beauty of a save late  to get us to overtime.”

“We’re doing things dramatically differently this year and it is an adjustment.  Our kids are committed to it.  Truly if we play a more ‘industrial’ game with a lot of stops and starts as we have in the past, this one doesn’t slip away.  We know it and are ok with it.”

“We’ve got the rest of the week to get some much needed training time.  The bottom line is we have to be better in the air.  We got beat on a ball we didn’t clear, and the Celtics started most of their pressure on us through counter attacks they started by easily clearing balls we flip threw into their box.  It looks like ‘Old Blue’ will make his debut this week!”

“We moved Ashley Gelbach to outside back to get a technical and experienced player there to start our attacks.  She made the transition seamlessly and played a flawless game.  She is that example of being a selfless team player that inspires me and her teammates.”
